Outback conquers Big Apple

The Sun Herald, Sunday, May 16, 2010 Jo Casamento

Forget Bono, this one-man band has the real AAA-list cult following:
Just ask Gweneth, Christy, Naomi, and Brooke. Paltrow, Turlington,
Watts and Shields, that is. Or better still, ask their glambinis: you know,
Moses, Apple, Finn, Grace, Sasha, Kai, Grier, and Rowan.

Local lad Leon Fallon, better known in Manhattan circles as Outback Aussie
- the secret weapon for mums-planning-a-party - became the entertainer
de rigueur for the under-five set during a four year stint in the Big Apple.

"It's kind of a word of mouth thing but some of the gigs I did I had Chris
[Martin] and Gweneth and Christy and Ed [Burns] siting in the front row
with their kids dancing like crazy because they were such fans, which is
really weird," says Fallon of his sought-after status in the US.

Hollywood veteran Shields- whose kids attended a number of parties
hosted by Fallon and his friends Karla the Koala, Jillaroo Sue and
Dusty Dan alongside Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld, says her girls
"loved it, dancing and singing all around the apartment".

Turlington, who met Fallon through Citibabes - a giant lifestyle centre for
New York families with lots of family-friendly services under one roof -
reckons she and Ed "often find ourselves singing along with [the kids]...
We fell in love with the music as quick as they did."

Now Fallon is hoping to get some sass & bide-toting Sydney mums and
their offspring bopping in their lounge rooms. And mums, if you think it
sounds like deja vu - remember those colourfully mega-earning skivvied
lads? - then you'd be totally on the money. Fallon's producer is his
APRA-winning brother-in-law, John Field (of the John Field Band and
brother to the blue Wiggle, Anthony Field), who wrote 250 of The Wiggles
biggest hits, including Hot Potato.

Un-fashion-able Trends

New York Post, 28th March 2010

Manhattan children's musician Leon Fallon, aka "Outback Aussie," recently
released his first DVD, and if fans of "The Wiggles" get a sense of deja vu
while watching it - it should come as no surprise. John Field, the brother of
blue-shirted Wiggle Anthony Field, and the writer of more than 250 Wiggles
songs, including "Hot Potato" and "Dorothy the Dinosaur," is the producer.

The DVD is the follow-up to Fallon's 2007 CD, which has won raves from
Brooke Shields and Christy Turlington.

A new Aussie kids Entertainer On The Scene

Stroller Traffic, 8th February 2010

"Australian performer Leon Fallon has been entertaining kids in New York for
the past few years as Outback Aussie, a one-man band with a cult following
that includes Brooke Shields and Christy Turlington, with Shields quoted on
the Outback Aussie website gushing about the DVD - and we have to admit
being totally hooked on it as well."

Womens Wear Day, June 2009

"...the skating rink was transformed into a carnival complete with waterslides,
cotton candy, go-carts and airplane rides. "I went on the boat ride with them,"
said Christy Turlington as her kids Grace and Finn sat transfixed by musical
act Outback Aussie."
